"The Visitor" debuted in 1997. It was the creation of Dean Devlin and Roland
Emmerich and starred John Corbett as "Adam MacArthur". It's the story of a man who
mysteriously disappeared over the Bermuda Triangle 50 years ago. He returns to
Earth, apparently without having aged at all, on a mission to alter the course
of human destiny. Also in the cast were Steve
Railsback as Colonel Vise, Grand L. Bush as Douglas Wilcox, Leon Rippy as
Nicholas La Rue, and John Storey as Craig Van Patten.
Although the series was cancelled after only 13 episodes, it
has a very strong following to this day.
For instance, there's been a lot of fan fiction written. One of my favorites is "Connections" by Kefla and San4. It is "Episode 14" in the continuing story of Adam MacArthur. Thanks to Agent Pat you can read it here.
